Online Therapy

Technology has exploded, and we’ve been pushed online.

And therapy is no exception.

As long as you live in California, you can get help whenever and wherever you need it, using my HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform (which means your privacy is secure).

Online therapy is flexible enough that we can either do EMDR or traditional talk therapy.

Either way, it’s intimate and personal… and you’ll be as comfortable as if we were in the same room.

And the convenience is incredible!

First of all, scheduling is much more flexible. Maybe you work from home, have a schedule that changes weekly, or take care of an aging parent who you don’t want to leave during the day.

You also don’t have to worry about going to and from another location. Say goodbye to the hassle of commute time, traffic, and parking!

Sometimes, getting out isn’t easy. Maybe you have little ones or you home-school. If getting around is difficult, help is but a click away.

And comfort? There’s no need to dress up and get ready. Just think… you can do therapy in your comfy sweats, chilling on your couch or favorite easy chair, sipping a cup of java or green tea. Just fire up your laptop or smartphone, and we’ll begin with a simple click.

You also get a greater selection of therapists because you don’t have to worry about choosing the one that’s closest to you. You might not mesh with that therapist… or you might live in a rural area where that therapist is many miles away! With online therapy, those obstacles melt away.

Here’s how to make the most of your experience…

You’ll begin your online session via a link that I send you before our first session. You can also join using your smartphone through a free app that you’ll download to your phone (I’ll send you those details, too).

You’ll need a strong Internet connection and private space.

You can email or text me things you’d like to address in our session. Or you can write these things out yourself. Sometimes that’s helpful when interacting online.

Real-time chat puts you into a secure line and allows you to chat back and forth with me in real-time. Think of it as having your own personal, private phone line to voice your concerns.

Online therapy isn’t for everyone.

For those of you with social anxiety, online therapy probably sounds like the way to go. But, spoiler alert, it’s not helpful to enable your social anxiety by making things too comfy. There are interventions we can do to challenge you, but consider coming to my office, too.

If you are struggling with depression, it might be nice to hide out at home, but getting showered and ready to go to my office will help you overcome inertia and move your body, which is a very good thing. By the way, I also provide nature, walk-and-talk therapy rather than sitting in an office.

Anyone contemplating suicide or struggling with debilitating depression needs critical, face-to-face assessment and care. So, the online environment wouldn’t be suitable here.

Each time we meet online, I’ll assess to ensure that the virtual setting is best for your needs.

Let’s get started!
